FAQ
Q: When should my child begin piano lessons?
A: The best age to begin piano lessons will vary for each student. Usually around age 6 is a great time to start. Depending on the student's maturity and interest, he or she may be ready earlier or later.

Q: How much are piano lessons?
A: Tuition rates can be found under studio policies. Please contact Mrs. Cathy for the most up-to-date rates.

Q: What is included in your tuition rates?
A: Tuition is billed monthly and is budget-billed across the school year. Books and extra materials are billed as your student needs them and not included in the tuition. There is no studio fee. Students participating in festivals and competitions will pay for those as needed.

Q: What kind of piano should I have at home?
A: A basic electronic keyboard is perfectly fine to have for a beginner student. It is recommended that serious students look into upgrading to a keyboard with weighted keys or an acoustic upright piano after 6 months to 1 year of study.

Q: Why do I need to upgrade to an acoustic piano or weighted keyboard?
A: Playing piano also involves training the fingers to develop touch. Real weighted keys on an acoustic piano are the best way to allow students to discover and learn how to control their fingers to play different techniques.

Q: Do you offer online music lessons?
A: Mrs. Cathy offers lessons in her music studio only. She values your time and commitment to lessons and face-to-face lessons in the studio are the best way to maximize each lesson without technical issues or sound problems. Special circumstances may be addressed individually but regularly scheduled lessons will be in-person only.
